Words on Weddings
I stepped into wedding photography on New Year’s Day, 2024. Each wedding since has been a world of its own. I have noticed that these rituals unfold like a city street - unpredictable, alive, layered with moments that will never happen the same way again. My approach to weddings is rooted in my background as a street/documentary photographer.
I don’t stage moments, I don’t interfere. I document the day as it truly is - honest, unscripted, and unpredictable. The quiet gestures between generations. Bridesmaids absentmindedly twirling their hair. A brides father taking a break from practicing his speech. A wedding is the most intense, beautiful, and emotionally charged day in a couple’s life.
I shoot on film for all of my street photography, as well as my wedding work. It captures the essence of the day in a way that is truly magic. Film being exposed to light really shines on wedding days (no pun intended) . It makes me feel like I am catching lightning in a bottle every time I click the shutter. There is nothing like it, so I include it for every wedding I photograph.
I always aim to be fully present so that when you look back, it’s not just a photograph, it’s a memory.
